Disabling AI Assistance for PCAPs

Sometimes, the best way to learn is without help. That’s the thinking behind our latest feature in PacketSafari Pro, designed specifically for educators and others who want full control over how PCAP files are explored.

Why disable AI?

We recently heard from instructors using PacketSafari to run interactive, browser-based network analysis exercises and exams. A common request has emerged: Can I share a PCAP while disabling the AI assistant, so learners are encouraged to draw their own conclusions?

It’s a valid point. PacketSafari Copilot is a powerful tool, but when teaching the fundamentals of packet analysis, it’s often more beneficial to let users investigate traffic on their own. Developing intuition, logic, and a methodical approach is key—especially early on.

Introducing the noAI tag

To support this use case, we’ve introduced a new tag called noAI. When you apply it to a PCAP:

  • Copilot will be disabled for that specific file.
  • Download access is restricted to the PCAP’s owner, preventing workarounds like re-uploading.

This gives instructors and content creators more control over the analysis experience—ideal for training, challenges, and secure demonstrations.

How to use it

Simply tag your PCAP with "noAI" via the interface or API. The system will enforce the restrictions automatically. There’s nothing else to configure.

Looking ahead

We're continuing to build features that make PacketSafari a flexible, secure environment for a wide range of users—from cybersecurity professionals to educators. If you have a specific need or idea, let us know. Many of our best features start with user feedback like this.
